When we transfer PTA retentions as a journal in the Trust Journal Work Centre, the period and date of the journal default to the current General Ledger Accounting Period - for us this is usually at least the previous month. We have to transfer retentions at the time the progress claim is paid, so would it be possible that it defaults to the date of the payment? Would save us having to adjust it each time.

Hey Andrew - we have to transfer the retentions at the same time payment is made per the legislation - and due to the deadline for recognising transactions within 5 business days, we have gotten in the habit of recording the journal within 1 business day - so our journals should have all been for retentions transferred on the same day. Thanks!
Hi Emily,
The sequence date at line level on the Trust journal will reflect the Paid
date. This is the date that will be used for transaction sequencing on the
PTA reports.
The date of the journal itself uses the day it was created as default and
it we would need to think bout what if the Journal includes lines that span
multiple paid dates across the lines in the journal. Out of interest Could
you tell me exactly why the Date on the Journal header needs to show the
paid date? and what do you think should happen if multiple different paid
dates were included in the journal?
cheers
Andrew
