Scan Approval Workflow Users - cannot enter more than 3 Characters into 'Contains' to look up a name

It is very annoying when you go to add a User to a workflow from within the Approval Workflow Maintenance - Workflows screen and using the 'Scan Approval Workflow Users' look-up, if you enter more than 3 characters into the Contains field to look up a name it will return NIL users. This is similar in other Scan / lookup tables. Surely we should be able to enter more characters of a User's name and return a result?!
