PMW to automatically calculate the quantum based on start and end dates entered

Currently, the PMW Forecasting by Cost Centre screen requires the quantity to be manually calculated and entered, with the corresponding units manually typed in also. In arriving at a quantum, external web based calendars / calculators are utilised.

Would like to see Jobpac introduce an additional two columns (Start Date and End Date), which allows the user to enter dates required for that forecast item. Lets face it, we are using Jobpac as a construction based forecasting tool. Forecasting will predominantly be based on time or a fixed value.

Further, the units should have a set of pre-defined variables to select / drop down from (i.e. Days, Weeks, Months, Year, Item, and Note).

By entering the date ranges, the system will automatically calculate the quantum derived based on the unit of measure chosen.

Other systems already do this - would love to see Jobpac follow suit.

I agree with the auto decrement and for the reasons you mention most people leave that feature off to manually review each month. It does suit some situations around preliminaries.
I’m very interested in your suggestion if it is a forecasting improvement, an area where we want to be first class.
Would you mind emailing me directly with a detailed example of what you are trying to achieve with perhaps a few screen shots. Following that I may give you a call.

    Hi Andrew,

We are using Time Phased Planning to forecast when we will be spending for each cost centre (based on the values entered within the PMW's). Further, the auto decrement feature will not work in real life (in theory this is great if actuals appears automatically - however this is not the case). We only just the timing down if the costs have hit the job as forecasted. In looking at actuals, we investigate to see when the charges have been billed to - it may not be for an entire month.

The suggestion is highly recommended to implement. It will save the project teams time in having to use an external source (double handling) to achieve the same end result.

    Kind Regards,

    Daemon

    Hi Daemon, Gerry,

Did you know it is already possible to enter start and finish dates for a cost centre In Jobpac? We call it Time Phase Planning. It is possible to enter start and finish dates spread your budget month by month for the duration of the cost centre and then forecast month by month as the cost centre progresses. In addition if you are forecasting at Cost centre level this can automatically build up to a project level Work In Hand forecast month by month for the duration of the whole project. If you are interested in activating that feature please log a service request in Clearview. In addition if you are entering PMW entries with a unit of months or days you can set the Auto decrement flag and Jobpac will automatically reduce the forecasting entry as the months roll by. Let me know if these existing features solve your problem.

    thanks

    Andrew
