I would like to see the PAYG tax section of the employee card file to be modified to more closely reflect the ATO TFN declaration form. The ATO form changed in Sept 2017 and Jobpac doesn't seem to reflect the changes. I understand the Jobpac fields have been added slowly over time, but I feel they need to be reviewed again in a comprehensive "start from scratch" way (mostly in a design sense).
I strongly believe the answers to the various questions should result in a PAYG Tax Scale being automatically selected, rather than being having to check what Y/N/3/5/7P means and then select the right one. Currently it's entirely possible to have a tax table selected which completely contradicts the information used in the TFN Dec section (which is submitted to the ATO). A Parameter could be used to choose if the Tax Scale was automatically selected or not, or could be manually over-ridden if some organisations didn't want that automation.
This is true of both the Standard Tax Scale but also the HECS (should be renamed HELP) and FSS. We should just enter Y/N and the program should work out the rest. Streamlining the layout to match the TFN Dec makes it easier to arrive at the correct answer. These fields could even sit on their own screen
See attached PDF of existing layout: Green=OK, Orange=Rearrange/change field type, Red: Remove or use logic - not user adjustable. Also attached is suggested layout with field types.

Hi Shaun,
Yes I was reading that and I have included for Roadmap thinking. It won't
be near term but it's now firmly on the radar. For Payroll evolution, we
probably need to get through the Same Day Super requirement first, coming
up for legislation in 2026.
cheers
Andrew
The ATO now has advanced to employee online submission of their own Tax File Declaration form.
& that submission can be linked through to your payroll system - so the detail (& presumably future updates) are automated & the responsibility of the employee.
Surely a no-brainer for a modern online cloud based payroll system.
Thanks again Alex. I do agree and you can expect a UX uplift in Employee
Maintenence in the near term!

The new HELP/HECS table changes in the employee file are good, but this whole section of the Employee Maintenence screen is getting very cluttered and messy!
I will investigate this and thanks for the suggestion. We most definitely want to keep up with the ATO if terminology is no longer clear and diverging from ATO standard. I have not had this mentioned before but it could be as a result of the changes being fairly recent as you mention. Will investigate and update you in the Months to come. If we need to change as part of this year’s regulatory we will ensure the changes are made.
Thanks
